The Halifax Historical Society was officially chartered in 1949, but its roots stretch back to 1933, when a group of passionate residents began collecting and sharing stories from Daytona’s early days. This founding group believed the rich history of the Halifax area deserved to be remembered—and celebrated.
In the mid-20th century, former Cuban president Fulgencio Batista donated two of his homes to the City of Daytona Beach before returning to Cuba. One of these homes became the early home of the Halifax Historical Museum, providing a space for exhibits, archives, and community connection.
